Preferences:

Most of the time the WordWrapper default preferences will do what you want to do. But sometimes you may need or want to take advantage of WordWrapper's several text-massaging options. If you click on the Preferences button or select Preferences... from the File menu, this screen will appear:

  • Delete n spaces from beginning of each line. If you have text that is indented, you can remove the indentation by setting this option to the right number of spaces.

  • Replace n spaces with a tab. This option allows you to replace some number of spaces with a tab character.

  • The input file is double spaced. If this box is checked, WordWrapper will change double carriage returns (and line feeds) into single carriage returns.

  • n or more spaces at the beginning of a line means a new paragraph. Often text with carriage returns on the ends of all the lines, will have paragraphs with the first line indented some number of spaces. Usually you will want this option set, and the default value of 3 works in almost all cases.

  • Leave Return if line is less than n characters long. When removing carriage returns, you usually do not want them to be removed from short lines such as name and address lines, or greetings, titles, etc. This option lets you specify a line length. The default value of 50 works in most cases.

  • Break lines longer than n characters long. This option is for unwrapping text, in other words, putting carriage returns back onto the ends of lines. WordWrapper will break text with carriage returns at the specified length, taking care to not break in the middle of words or punctuation.

  • Show confirmation alert when done wrapping. If this box is checked, WordWrapper will display an alert confirming that it is done wrapping the text. This box is checked by default, but can be unchecked.

  • Put WordWrapper in the status bar. If this box is checked, WordWrapper will place itself in the status bar at the top of the screen, where it will always be available.. This box is unchecked by default, but can be checked.

  • The preferences can always be set back to the default values by clicking on the Default button.
